Unit 7: Fractions
Unit 7: Fractions
In this example, there is 7/8 of a pizza.
There are 7 pieces there out of 8 pieces total!
When writing improper fractions, count how many pieces you have (7). Use that number as the numerator. Then the denominator is how many equal pieces you need for one whole shape (4).
When writing a mixed fraction, start with how many whole shapes you have (1), then add a proper fraction to show how much is left over (3/4).
Ex. Place the following numbers on a number line: 2/4, 1 3/4, 2 1/4.
