Last night Emily was awakened by the sound of a nearby car alarm on her street. When she arrived at school the next morning her friend, Dominique, who lived on a street nearby, was complaining about how a car alarm that kept her awake all night. She heard the alarm, but didn't describe it as loud as Emily. Use the picture to demonstrate how both girls heard the alarm, but why Dominique heard a fainter sound.
