The North Kingstown High School Academy of Engineering and Robotics is a Rhode Island certified Center for Technical Education (CTE). This academy is targeted to students who are interested in pursuing a career in engineering and consist of a minimum of three consecutive, year long courses. Our curriculum is provided by Project Lead the Way, the nation's premier pre-engineering curriculum provider.
When enrolled in the academy, students will take a series of courses that expose them to the different facets of engineering disciplines and skills. Students start off in their first year learning about Engineering Design. In their second year, students will apply these design skills to projects based on the fields of mechanical, electrical, and civil engineering, taking a survey course in these fields while also learning about revising prototypes based on performance statistics. In the third course, students will dive deeper in a specialty course that they surveyed in the previous year. These specialty course currently consist of topics including Civil, Electrical, Manufacturing, and Mechanical Engineering. At the end of the third year, students will select a specialty course in either mechanical, electrical, civil, or manufacturing engineering.
