Who is Ms. Moore?
“If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music.” - Albert Einstein
Hello! My name is Anna Moore and I am the new music teacher at GWES. I have worked with the NKHS theatre department and marching band over the last year. I'm very excited to begin my first official year teaching here!
I received my Bachelor's of Music in Music Education from VCU. While at VCU, I had the amazing opportunity to study traditional drumming, gyil (African xylophone), dancing, and singing in Accra, Ghana. I returned to Ghana twice more to work with a small non-profit teaching music and leading teacher workshops in a rural village school. I hope to bring as much of those experiences into the music room as possible!
My goal this year is to guide students through their own exploration of the wonderful phenomenon we call music. Music is one of the fundamental elements in every culture throughout history, and one of the easiest ways for humans to connect across any barrier.
When I'm not at school, you can find me hanging out at the James River, playing with my friends' cats, cooking, or traveling.
