Blueprint of a Lamborghini.
Meshing of the Lamborghini cut-out.
Orthogonal quality of the meshing. The minimum value is 0.17, which means the quality is considered acceptable.
Skewness of the meshing. The maximum value is 0.84, which means the quality is considered acceptable.
This is an assignment for my ME-441 Computer Simulation and Analysis class. In the Computer Simulation and Analysis class ANSYS Workbench and Discovery AIM were used extensively to simulate. Instructions were provided, and sometimes the models, either from Creo Parametric or SolidWorks, were provided as well. Some assignments however need the objects to be modelled from scratch or modified before hand.
In this assignment a 2D flow analysis over a Lamborghini must be conducted using ANSYS Workbench Fluid Flow (Fluent). A side view blueprint of a Lamborghini was used in this assignment.
In order to get the 2D model of the automobile, I sketched the Lamborghini under Tools -> Sketch Tools -> Sketch Picture using an image of a blueprint of a side view of the Lamborghini. The scaling line was set on the bottom of the bumper and stretched until it was below the tail end of the car. The length of the scaling line was set to 4370 mm as it is the actual length of the Lamborghini. Using Line and Spline tool I traced the shaped of the car except for the wheels. Then, I sketched a large rectangle over the car. Using Insert -> Surface -> Fill the inside of the rectangle was filled leaving behind a cut out of the Lamborghini.
To get a good quality mesh for the model, Edge Sizing, Face Sizing, and Inflation were used on the edges of the Lamborghini cut out and the rectangle face. The size function was also set to curvature. This is done to have the mesh possess a good enough Orthogonal quality and Skewness in order to be used for the simulation without inaccuracies.
The results of the flow analysis includes contours of static pressure, velocity magnitude, and turbulent intensity, as well as a streamline over the Lamborghini cut out.
Pressure contour over the 2D Lamborghini.
Velocity contour over the 2D Lamborghini.
Turbulent Intensity contour over the 2D Lamborghini.
Streamlines over the 2D Lamborghini.
