Computer Vision Lab

About Us

Computer Vision (CV)  Lab is one of the highly active research labs at NIT, Raipur focussing on the various areas of Image processing. The lab provides an umbrella environment for undergraduate, postgraduate, and Ph.D. scholars to carry out research in various aspects related to their respective fields. We do cutting-edge research in multiple areas of image and video processing.

CV lab has 1 faculty member and 5 research scholars working in the broad area of  : Image/Video processing,  Image Forensics, Human-Computer Interaction, Kinship Verification and Healthcare solution using image analysis.

Kinship verification is a method to verify whether a pair of persons share blood relation or they belong to same family. Facial images share kin signals due to overlapping of genes, this overlapping of genes leave an impact on the facial characteristics of kin persons.

Recognition of human actions is a major step toward understanding of dynamic scenes.  Action recognition is a fundamental task in the computer vision community that recognizes human actions based on the complete action execution in a video. Action recognition and prediction algorithms empower many realworld applications like human-robot interaction, VR Gaming application, autonomous driving car , etc.

Remote Photoplethysmography (rPPG) allows contactless monitoring of human cardiac activities through a video camera. We have deveoped computer vision and AI-powered model for interpretation of vital sign.

Image forensics deals with any kind of image manipulation which aims to deliver deceptive information by changing the image graphic content. The detection of image forgery without any prior information along with the detection of computer generated fake images come under the image forensics techniques.
