 A NOTE ABOUT RESPONSIBLE READING

A middle school library serves students ranging in ages from eleven to fourteen. What is interesting and appropriate for an eleven-year-old may not be interesting and/or appropriate for a fourteen-year-old and vice versa. Some volumes in the library may contain material that may be objectionable to some readers. Should any reader find a title unsuitable, he/she should return it for an alternate selection.

Libraries are all about choice. Our goal is to encourage enjoyment in reading while respecting individual preferences.

Parents can help students enjoy the library. Ask students what they are reading and talk to them about their choices.

"A truly great library contains something in it to offend everyone.” Jo Godwin
