Thank you for your interest in the Steele Early College High School in Northwest ISD! We are looking forward to adding new students to our talented cohort of exceptional ECHS students. By exceptional we mean students with academic and career goals, students who want to learn and explore new ideas, students with the desire to attend college, students who see education as their path to success, and students who want to push themselves to create their future. Our Steele ECHS students are always looking to increase their Competitive Advantage focused on academics, certifications, internships/experiences, leadership, volunteering, and service.

ECHS Recruitment Timeline for Freshmen Class 2024-2025
Round One
Enrollment Request Link opens September 6 and ends October 15 (midnight)
Students will be notified of acceptance by October 27
Round Two
This round is dependent on if we have open spots available. If spots are not available, students will be added to the waitlist.
Enrollment Request Link – October 16 and closes November 19 (midnight)
Students will be notified of acceptance by December 15
Round Three – Final Round
This round is dependent on if we have open spots available. If spots are not available, students will be added to the waitlist.
Enrollment Request Link – November 20 closes March 17 (midnight)
Students will be notified of acceptance by March 29

The Enrollment Request Link will open for the 2025 - 2026 school year on Wednesday, September 4th. Additional Information
Students have four opportunities to complete the enrollment request form to join Steele Early College High School. The first opportunity is the Fall semester of 8th grade (this is the main enrollment opportunity), the second is the Spring semester of 8th grade (if openings are available), the third opportunity is Fall semester of 9th grade for the Spring semester (if openings are available), and Spring semester of 9th grade year for the Fall semester of Sophomore year (if openings are available).
Why Early College High School?
Early College High School is an innovative approach for high school students to earn both a high school degree and their college Associate's degree. Students can earn up to 60 college hours. At Steele Early College High School we work with students to focus on Academics, Industry Certifications, Internships/Experience, Community Service, Leadership, and Preparation for College. Steele is a small college campus experience focused on students working on a Competitive Advantage for their future.
Why choose Steele Early College High School?
Students can earn tuition-free college credit that also satisfies high school requirements.
Depending on when students start the program, they can earn an associate degree at the same time as their high school diploma.
Students start courses at TCC once they meet college-readiness standards. If college-ready, students may start college courses their freshman year.
Students attend college classes during the day either at Steele, online, or at TCC campus.
Students can access TCC support services including college advising, career counseling and free tutoring.
Steele Early College High School is an outstanding value and investment of time and effort for our students. At Texas colleges, the average cost for 60 hours of college credit is $51,252. The cost for Steele Early College High School is $0! There is no cost for tuition, transportation or textbooks.
This amazing program offers:
Enrollment in TCC dual credit classes at NO COST to the student or family.
The opportunity to complete an Associate Degree in General Studies (60 credits) or the Texas Core Curriculum (42 credits).
Enrollment in college readiness and academic support class.
Core classes that still allow for participation in elective classes.
Parent and student education on applying to college, being successful in college, & financing college.
Family and school partnership.
Regularly scheduled progress monitoring to discuss academic progress.
TCC, Steele, and NISD staff members available to help support student advocacy.

Wednesday, September 6 Steele ECHS Enrollment Request Opens for Fall 2024 semester. Round One from September 7 through October 15.
Friday, October 15 End of Round One for Enrollment Requests. Enrollment Request Due by Midnight.
Monday, October 16 Steele ECHS Enrollment Request Opens for Round Two (October 15 - November 18).
Monday, October 27 Round One - Students will receive enrollment notification by the 27th.
Friday, November 19 End of Round Two for Enrollment Requests. Enrollment Request Due by Midnight.
Friday, December 15 Round Two - Students will receive enrollment notification by December 15th.
Monday, November 20 Steele ECHS Enrollment Request Opens for Round Three (November 16 - March 17, 2023)
Sunday, March 17 End of Round Three (final round) for Enrollment Requests. Enrollment Request Due by Midnight.
Friday, March 29 Round Three - Students will receive enrollment notification by the 31st.
August, 2024 Summer Bridge - All incoming 9th grade ECHS students (Class of 2028). Two days, dates to be determined.
