Lakeview Elementary Counselor's Corner
Welcome to the Lakeview counseling website! I am so excited you're here!
The purpose of a school counselor is to provide a comprehensive school guidance program that supports academic, social, and emotional learning for all students. At Lakeview, I do this in the following ways:
Whole-class guidance lessons. Periodically throughout the year, I will visit your child's classes, facilitating lessons to address personal and academic success. Examples of guidance topics include empathy, bullying, self-awareness, personal safety, and responsible decision making.
Small-group counseling. Groups are structured according to student need and are open to all students. Small groups may be ongoing or time-limited. Common group topics include friendship, life transitions, stress/anxiety, and study skills.
Individual counseling. Students may be referred by a parent, teacher, or self-referral to see me individually. I work on a one-on-one basis with students to help problem-solve a variety of situations, and work on strategies to process feelings. Every child is unique and may need to talk through their own unique situation, but some common issues that can be dealt with in individual counseling include anxiety/worry, self-esteem, peer conflict, academic pressure, and crisis management.

Meet the Counselor!
Hello! My name is Catherine Sanderson and I am so excited to be working with our Lakeview Bobcats! Prior to becoming a counselor, I taught ELAR and GT and coached cheerleading at the junior high level.
I earned my Bachelor's degree from the University of North Texas, and my Master's from Texas A&M Commerce. I am passionate about counseling and am so happy to be working with students and parents in Trophy Club.
When I'm not at school, I'm usually reading, doing yoga, playing with my dog, Beanie, running, or spending time with my family and friends.
