Lead Measure #1: Wash hands with soap and water. Avoid spreading germs by coughing in elbow and using Kleenex to clean noses.

Lead Measure #2: Establish a bedtime and morning routine to get everyone off to a great start each day.

At the beginning of the year, the majority of KG students were reading at Level 0 (non-readers).

After 2 months of instruction, we have KG students moving into levels as they are becoming readers! By this time, KG students should be at a Level 2 or higher.

At the beginning of the year, the majority of 1st graders were reading between Levels 3-4. The goal for the beginning of the year was a minimum of Level 4.

After 2 months of instruction, you can see that 1st graders are growing and moved the majority to Levels 4-6. The goal for this time of year, is Level 10 or higher.

At the beginning of the year, the goal for 2nd grade is to be reading at a Level 16 or higher. We were about half way to our goal.

After 2 months of instruction, you can see that 2nd graders are making gains in closing in on getting to Level 20 or higher.

At the beginning of the year, the goal is for 3rd graders to come in reading at a Level 28.

After 2 months of instruction, we are a little stagnant. However, we begin to teach a lot of comprehension strategies in 3rd grade. We work to make sure that kids are truly understanding what they are reading at their current levels. Looking forward to big progress at the December middle of the year (MOY) measure.

In 4th grade, we began the year with the majority of students at or above level.

In October, they took their first multiple choice assessment since 3rd Grade STAAR. Students reading on level are still not meeting the standard. 4th graders will be working to increase reading skills, stamina and comprehension. They will rock it!

In 5th grade, students entered mostly reading on/above reading level.

On their first curriculum based assessment since 4th grade STAAR, they are scoring well with comprehension. These assessments are written at a 5th grade level text. 5th graders will be working on test taking strategies, deepening comprehension across genres and getting closer to on/above level. They can, and they will!
