Dear Northwest School Parents/ Guardians,

In an effort to keep our NISD students engaged in literacy throughout the summer, secondary students will be strongly encouraged to read at least one book of their choice over the summer. It is important that students are reading books for enjoyment, where they are choosing books they personally relate to and can make deep connections with. We also encourage students to select books that are appropriate and substantial enough for the grade they are entering.

A list of recommended/suggested titles for middle school students or parents that would like a guideline to help get started can be found on the grade level pages of this website. Again, students may choose a book not on this list; these are merely grade-level suggested texts.
