What's New

Welcome Volunteers!

We have been SO EXCITED to welcome visitors back into the building. Stay tuned for additional information about volunteer opportunities.

Please remember that all visitors and volunteers need to check into the front office and get a visitor badge. Visitors will also sit at the designated tables (that have red VISITOR letters on them). If you have not previously signed in, you will need to bring your driver's license so that it can be scanned into our Raptor system. Background checks need to be completed annually and are required for any volunteers in the building or for field trips. Click here to complete your background check.

Superintendent Search

Northwest ISD would like your feedback on the important qualities and characteristics you would like to see in the district's next superintendent!

This anonymous survey,
available online, asks for your views about Northwest ISD and what you believe are important qualities for the district’s next leader. This feedback will be used to create a candidate profile the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees will use to guide its search for the next superintendent.

Leasor Crass, the search firm assisting trustees in this process, will also meet with leaders in the district, schools (including student council and class leaders) and the community for further insight.

Northwest ISD’s next superintendent will be selected in the spring, and he or she will work with Dr. Ryder Warren, current superintendent, to provide a smooth leadership transition. More information about the search process will be communicated to families in the coming weeks.

Reindeer Romp is Coming!!!

Registration is now open for Northwest ISD’s annual Reindeer Romp! The event consists of a 1-mile fun run and 5K run, with all proceeds benefiting school P.E. departments.

The event begins with the 1-mile run at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, December 11, followed 30 minutes later by the 5K race. Both races take place at Alliance Airport. Register now and
select our school to help our P.E. program! Information and registration is available at www.nisdreindeerromp.com.

Cooperation

This month we are talking about Cooperation! Cooperation is about making sure we know how to be on a team or work in a group towards a common goal. Here is the definition we are using:

Cooperation: Working together and helping others.

We want young people to know how to work hard on their own. But, just as important, we want them to know what it looks like to be a part of a really supportive, helpful, empowering team. We will be thinking about the skills needed to work together well and how each of us contributes to a group in big and small ways. We will think about our strengths and our areas of growth. We will take part in fun challenges to put our teamwork to the test and grow, together, toward the common goal of a more helpful, kind, cooperative world!

  • I will be able to show and understand the meaning of kindness.

  • I will be able to work together with my peers to accomplish a goal.

  • I will be able to communicate with my peers by showing whole body listening.

Home Connection

Home Conversation Starters

  • Sometimes you just feel like doing things all by yourself. What is something that someone can do to help you to get into the spirit of Cooperation?

  • When we are working with others, it can be tough when a teammate is not cooperating. How do you deal with that frustration? What can you say to the teammate to tell them how you feel?

  • Talk about a time when you worked on a really effective team. What were the ingredients? What did you contribute? How did they help you?

Home Questions You Could Ask

  • What are some activities where it’s easy for you to practice Cooperation? Which activities make it difficult? Why do you think that is?

  • Do you like working together with other people? Can you name some things you do at home that require Cooperation or teamwork?

  • Who is someone you love to work with? What makes it easy to Cooperate with them?

Cookie Extravaganza for Teachers

Calling all Cookie Bakers

Curtis PTA is planning a special holiday treat for the teachers & staff. It is a Christmas Cookie Extravaganza on Wednesday December 15th. We are in need of a lot of cookies or treats to be donated for this event! We would like to gift the teachers and staff with some awesome homemade or like homemade (special from your favorite bakery) cookies. We are hoping for a variety of types, flavors and holiday decorated cookies or treats for our teachers and staff to choose from.

Each teacher will come to the Cookie Extravaganza Room where they will be given a cookie box that PTA will provide and choose a dozen cookies of their choice. Your contribution is greatly appreciated.

Join us in wishing our fantastic faculty and staff a Happy Holiday by donating some cookies!

The cookies can be dropped in the front office on Monday December 13th.
