My name is Kelley Cushenbery (formally Schemmel) and this is my 14th year teaching. I grew up in Flower Mound, Texas and went to school in Lewisville ISD. I feel as though I grew up in the classroom, so it felt natural to become a teacher. I was always the child who was playing "school" with all of my dolls growing up.

I currently live in North Richland Hills with my husband, Pierce, our daughter, Indie and our dog, Wrigley!

I attended the University of North Texas where I earned my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (EC-4th) in 2011. I taught 1st grade for 2 years at a charter school in Oak Cliff, where I was awarded Teacher of the Year. I spent my second year mentoring new teachers. I was also awarded Teacher of the Year at Beck for the 2017-2018 year. I have been a science curriculum writer for 9 years now (and going strong) and have loved having an opportunity to impact what and how our students learn in science. This is my 12th year at Beck Elementary School teaching third grade!

Some hobbies I enjoy are traveling, watching movies, reading a good book and spending time with my family. My family and I love to travel! This summer we went to Japan and The Philippines!
