Greetings Families!

What an incredible experience today! Our teachers really embraced this historical event and planned some great learning around what was happening and why it was happening. I was proud of our students for being very responsible with their Solar glasses.

I want to celebrate the success of our 3rd Annual Amazing Shake Event! We had over 60 volunteers helping us with our Challenge! We will announce our Amazing Shake Champions this Friday. We will host a second and final Amazing Shake on May 14th to determine our Amazing Shake Grand Champion.

I strive to be transparent in our 'why.' As a campus, we have chosen to bring the Amazing Shake to Beck because we believe that those soft skills we work on with students gives our students the specific skills that help them connect successfully with other students and adults. It also explicitly teaches students how to be a more effective partner when cooperating in groups. We plan to continue to add to the skills we will focus on each year. I hope that you are seeing these same highlights at home and in outside activities as well.

I appreciate all parent support with our school initiatives and cannot be more proud of how we come together to make these experiences important and possible. Cheers!

STAAR Testing Dates

Please note, these dates Beck will be closed to visitors.

3rd-5th Reading STAAR- April 16th

5th Grade Science STAAR- April 18th

3-5th Math STAAR- May 1st

Make-Up testing will happen throughout the end of the week of testing, as needed.

Kinder Round-Up Change

This year, all Northwest Elementary schools are going to change Kinder Round-Up to a Kinder Camp event at each campus in August, about two weeks before school starts. Therefore, there will NOT be a Kinder Round-Up event the week of April 22nd. If you need any help registering your incoming Kinder student, please feel free to come up to school or give us a call at 817-215-0450.

We ask that visitors sign up prior to arriving at school for lunch.

Visitors/Parents must sit at the tables on the Stage and may only have their child eating with them, no friends are permitted to join.

Counselors Corner

April is here! I am excited to go into into classrooms for guidance lessons. In K-2 classrooms we will learn about their well being ( physical, social, emotions and brain power) and safety awareness. In 3rd-5th grade we will be reviewing test taking strategies so they "Donut stress on the test".

We had a great turn out for our 2nd Parent cafe' last week. Save the date for our 3rd parent cafe on April 30th from 8:00-8:45 am. The topic for this Parent cafe' is boundaries. We will discuss ways to help parents understand how to set healthy boundaries and expectations for their families, help parents realize their ability to impact a child’s emotional development nurturing children while reinforcing expectations and boundaries, and to help parents develop effective consequences for children at a variety of ages. Scholarship Committee

Beck PTA awards 2 scholarships to graduating seniors who attended Beck Elementary! We are seeking volunteer readers to review and score the scholarship applications. It's a real joy to serve on this committee and to read about the incredible students that our little bulldogs develop into!
