About My Project
My goal for my project was to help kids learn about the value of storytelling in different cultures, and the beauty of Mapuche culture. In order to achieve my goal, I made a digital illustrated children's storybook of Mapuche legends in both Spanish and English.
Who are the Mapuche?
The Mapuche are an indigenous group from South America with an ancient culture and respect for the earth and nature around them. The Mapuche keep their culture alive through stories, legends and tradition. In my storybook, I show two of the Mapuche's oldest and most well-known legends, The Copihue and The Añañuca.
