Biosketch
Dr. Adela is an Associate Professor in the Dept. of Pharmacy Practice at National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Guwahati. He obtained his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad. Dr. Adela did postdoctoral training at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS-New Delhi) in the National Postdoctoral Program-DST-SERB. Dr. Adela is interested in finding biomarkers to predict the progression of cardiovascular complications among diabetes by doing basic, pre-clinical and clinical research.
Dr. Adela's long-term goal is to identify a biomarker to early detect, staging and monitor the progression of cardiovascular diseases in type 2 diabetes patients and identify a suitable treatment strategy to manage the disease's complexity. Dr. Adela has published articles in reputed journals such as AJOG MFM, Journal of Translational Medicine, Frontiers in Immunology, PLoS One, and Scientific Reports, etc. Dr. Adela has received Torrent-ISHR Young Investigator Award from the International Society of Heart Research (ISHR-Indian Section) and was nominated as an Associate Fellow of the Andhra Pradesh Academy of Sciences (AFAPASC). He was elected as a Council member of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences (Indian Section). He is a member of the National Academy of Sciences (MNASc), India and a Member of the Indian National Young Academy of Sciences (INYAS)-INSA, New Delhi.
Major Focus :
· Understanding the role of platelet-mediated inflammation in type 2 diabetes associated with coronary artery diseases.
· Role of Vitamin D in the management of diabetes and cardiovascular diseases
· Identification of the biomarkers for the prediction of hypertension disorders in pregnancy
· Evidence synthesis by Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
