BIOSKATCH: I am currently working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry (Natural Products) at NIPER Guwahati, Assam. I have  completed my M.S.Pharm In Natural Product Chemistry from NIPER Mohali, Punjab and Ph.D in Pharmaceutical Sciences from SRM Institute of Science and Technology-Chennai, Tamilnadu. I am having over 18 years of extensive research experience as a scientific researcher and entrepreneur in various well-known industries present across prominent parts of INDIA. I have contributed in the area of new product development, product innovations and technology enhancement in several industries under phytopharmaceutical, Ayurveda, herbal health care & personal care, Food and Beverages and FMCG portfolios. Various companies, I have worked, includes Piramal Life Science (Nicholas Piramal India Ltd), Cavin Kare Pvt Ltd, Himalaya Drug Company, Amrutanjan Health Care Ltd and AVN Ayurveda Formulation Pvt. Ltd.

AREA OF RESEARCH: Natural Product Chemistry, Phytochemistry, Herbal Drug Standardization, Extraction, Isolation and Structural characterization of phytochemical markers and bioactive marker compounds from natural sources including plant, microbial extracts and marine sources, Development and evaluation herbal formulations and drug-delivery techniques for phytochemicals. Understanding mechanistic principles various Ayurveda based medicines and principles using modern scientific approaches.      

Major research area focused on:

• Extraction, isolation and structural characterization of versatile class of bioactive molecules from plants, bacterial, fungal extracts, AND marine sources.

• Discovery and development of New chemical entities (NCEs) from natural sources for various therapeutic applications through bioassay driven isolation and characterization.

•  Development of phytochemicals-based product of pharmaceutical, personal care, nutraceutical, dietary supplements.

• Development of herbal based products for animal health care and wellness 

• Quality control and standardization of herbal ingredients and formulations on basis of plant metabolomic analysis using various chromatography, physical parameters analysis and spectroscopic techniques such as TLC, HPTLC, HPLC, LC-MS, LC-MS/MS, FTIR, 1D & 2D-NMR, DSC, and XRD techniques….etc.

• Development and evaluation of various herbal based formulations and novel drug delivery techniques for herbal based bio-actives for leveraging optimal function of phytochemical

•  Experienced in handling various regulatory audits and queries like ISO 9001:2015, FSSAI, AYUSH, and HACCP and MOHs from various countries. 

• He is having more than 25 publications in various Indian and international journals and filed 3 patents on herbal related product development.
