Dr. Krishna Undela completed his M.Pharm (Pharmacy Practice) at the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER) Mohali in 2012, and his Ph.D. at the JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, in 2019. From October 2012 to August 2020, he worked as a Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at JSS College of Pharmacy, Mysuru. Subsequently, he joined NIPER Guwahati as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice. He teaches subjects such as Clinical Pharmacy, Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacoeconomics, Pharmacovigilance, Pharmacotherapeutics, and Evidence-Based Medicine. His primary research areas include medication therapy management in chronic diseases, evidence synthesis, pharmacovigilance data mining, and health economics and outcomes research.
Dr. Undela has extensive experience conducting various pharmacoepidemiological studies in hospital and community settings. He received the 2015 Endeavour Executive Fellowship from the Department of Education, Australian Government, for three months of training on "Advanced Pharmacoepidemiology and Quality Use of Medicines" at the University of South Australia, Adelaide, Australia. He has also received travel grants from the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) to attend ISPE conferences as a delegate in Hong Kong (2013), Taiwan (2014), Thailand (2015), and the USA (2021), and as an Educational Session Speaker in Australia (2017), China (2018), Japan (2019, 2024), Korea (2021), Taiwan (2022), and India (2023). Additionally, he received a travel grant from the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR) to attend the ISPOR European Congress in Austria in 2016. More recently, he attended The Global Health Network Conference 2022 at the University of Cape Town, South Africa, as a fully sponsored delegate.
Dr. Undela has expertise in conducting systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and has published numerous well-cited papers in reputable peer-reviewed journals. He presented a meta-analysis on "Statin use and risk of Parkinson’s disease" at the 20th World Congress on Parkinson’s Disease and Related Disorders in Geneva, Switzerland, in 2013. He has authored over 110 scientific publications, which have received more than 1500 citations, resulting in an h-index of 19 and an i10-index of 25.
Dr. Undela has delivered over 190 lectures at national and international conferences on Pharmacoepidemiology, Pharmacovigilance, Pharmacoeconomics, Clinical Pharmacy, and Systematic Review and Meta-analysis.
Currently, Dr. Undela serves as the Coordinator of the International Society of Pharmacovigilance (ISoP) South Asian Chapter, a Member of ISPE’s Asian Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology (ACPE) International Steering Committee, and a member of the ISoP Special Interest Groups on Medication Errors & Drug Safety in Older Patients and the ISPE Pediatric Special Interest Group. At NIPER Guwahati, he is the Chairman of the Placement Committee, Principal Investigator of the Technical Resource Hub, and Coordinator of the Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring Centre, Atal Incubation Centre, and Bio-NEST.
