- Through their involvement in consultations, discussions, and reviews of research studies, members of YPAGne gain valuable skills in critical thinking, communication, and decision-making.
- The integration of YPAGne into the NIHR Children’s Specialty YPAG model highlights the commitment to fostering youth participation and empowerment in the field of healthcare and research.

Joining something new can be intimidating, so here's a glimpse of what a typical meeting entails:
- A YPAG facilitator will welcome you at the venue, assist with signing in, create a name badge, and guide you to your table.
- Groups are assigned before meetings to ensure a mix of new and existing members. While it's comforting to sit with friends, mixing up groups each month helps individuals attending alone feel more at ease.
- Meetings kick off with an icebreaker activity involving both group members and adults. The topics usually relate to ongoing projects or recent health-related news.
- Following the icebreaker, the first project is presented with a brief overview. Researchers collaborate with facilitators beforehand to create engaging activities that involve young participants in understanding and contributing to the project.
- YPAG meetings provide a safe environment for sharing opinions, offering various participation options. The session wraps up with feedback before a break for food and socializing with other members.
- The latter part of the meeting features a different project, commencing with a presentation and followed by an engaging activity.
- The meeting concludes with final feedback. Taxi transportation can be arranged and covered for members' convenience in attending and departing from meetings. Jo will send reminders before each meeting.
