AHP Research Champions
Applications are now open for North West London, East Midlands, West Midlands, and Kent, Surrey and Sussex, for our AHP Research Champion roles working with the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) and the Council for Allied Health Professions Research (CAHPR).
Are you passionate about AHPs being research-active and having an impact on patient care? Do you have ideas about how we engage and support AHPs to be research-active in NHS and social care settings?
We want to add to our community of role models and research activists to champion the work of AHPs and to get more AHPs to be aware of and involved in health and social care research for the benefit of patients.
Our vision is to widen and strengthen our community of voluntary leaders and influencers who appreciate the value of being research-active at an individual, team and an organisational level, are willing to share that passion with fellow professionals and organisational leaders to help build more research capacity, and to increase the visibility of AHPs’ work in health and social care settings.
We’re looking for people who:
· Understand research and the benefits it brings to patients, the local health and care system and meeting population needs
· Appreciate the challenges for individuals to develop a clinical academic career and engage in research.
· Are inspired about working with NHS, NIHR and CAHPR colleagues to connect research-active people and progress solutions together.
If the above resonates with you, NIHR and CAHPR would love to hear from you.
The AHP Research Champion scheme
The NIHR and CAHPR have together created the NIHR/CAHPR AHP Research Champion scheme. Based in each of the 15 NIHR Local Clinical Research Networks, AHP Research Champions will act locally and link with their counterparts nationally, acting as role models and connectors for AHP health and social care professionals across a local area.
