Non-Commercial funding support
NIHR is committed to funding health, public health, and social care research that leads to improved outcomes for patients and the public, and makes the health and social care system more efficient, effective, and safe. At any given time the NIHR has multiple funding streams that are available to our researchers and partners. The eligibility of each funding stream varies based on numerous criteria, but with the wide range of funding opportunities, there is constant access to potential funding streams.
The NIHR worked closely with funders to create a Funder Resource pack to help our partners navigate the entire Funding process.
Commercial funding support
We help the life sciences industry to support new innovations to move the healthcare system onto the market. The NIHR also has a range of funding programs to support promising innovations to generate the evidence needed to get to market. The life sciences industry may apply for funding as a lead organisation or as co-applicants with NHS or Academic partners.
The NIHR offers a free service for the Life Sciences Industry which is available to all life sciences companies and contract research organisations regardless of location, study type, size or therapy area. This involves support and advice on funding. The earlier you get in touch the more you will benefit from our support.
