The bursary application process for courses for the academic year 2025/26 has now closed.
You can register for updates to be notified when applications open for the academic year 2026/27.
The deadline for completion of the bursary application form was 12 noon on 1 July 2025.
For bursary applicants who applied prior to the application deadline, bursary funding will be awarded following assessment by a panel, taking into consideration the information included in the bursary application form.
The highest ranking applicants will be awarded bursaries and remaining high ranking applicants will be put on a waiting list. Those on the waiting list will be contacted if additional or re-allocated funding becomes available following the bursary award process.
Outcomes of bursary applications will be notified to applicants on or before 22 August 2025. The notification will be sent by the applicant’s highest preference university that they are eligible to study with.
Bursary awarded
Applicants awarded a bursary must confirm to the university that they accept it by 29 August 2025. Failure to do so will result in the bursary offer being withdrawn.
Added to bursary waiting List
Applicants notified that they have been added to the bursary waiting list will be notified if they have been offered a bursary by the university by 5 September 2025.
Applicants offered a bursary from the bursary waiting list must confirm to the university that they accept it by 12 September 2025. Failure to do so will result in the bursary offer being withdrawn.
Applicants should regularly check the email address they have provided for contact about their bursary application; deadlines will be strictly applied.
The NIHR has awarded 3 years of funding to institutions to offer engagement opportunities and research masters places for students and recent graduates within registered healthcare, social work and public health professions.
Opportunities are delivered by the 12 regional INSIGHT Programmes in England, with Masters places starting in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Each year, up to 30 research Masters places are available in each region.
