Arisa Kimaram

Senior Insight Analyst, Brent Council

Arisa is an experienced mixed-methods researcher, who specialises in qualitative research, and leads on this for the Public Health team at Brent Council. Her passion is using research to elevate the voices of people whose views are so often overlooked, and to bridge the gap between those in decision-making positions and the people they are making decisions about. Her background in public opinion research and behavioural segmentation brings a different lens to understanding health inequalities and how to improve population health outcomes.

Tackling health inequalities is a priority for Brent Council and though it recognises the need for an intersectional approach, there is little guidance of what it means or how to do it. Along with her other Brent Council colleagues on the Improvement Leader Fellowship, Arisa’s project aims to develop a truly intersectional approach to improving health outcomes, that goes beyond looking at traditional demographic factors, to considering psychological and social factors as well. Through this project, they hope to align the council’s understanding of intersectionality and implement a new segmentation model for understanding Brent’s population.
