The Class of 2020

Amber | Brooke | Scout

Highlight of your time at Nightingale:
It is impossible to pinpoint one highlight because my Nightingale experience was shaped by the small moments that now I look back on as fond memories, especially since we are all not at school anymore. My Nightingale experience was defined by my advisor and teachers who always took the time to get to know me and my passions. It was defined by writing an open letter with the Inclusivity Board and sharing it with our community. It was defined by many fun badminton practices. I know that it was the amazing people around me that shaped who I am today.

Highlight of your time at Nightingale:
The people I've met at Nightingale are my highlight. I've never felt so connected to a group of people just by sharing the same building as them. I know that I could walk up to anyone at Nightingale and start a conversation with them, which is really special.

What would you tell your younger Nightingale self:
I would tell my younger Nightingale self to actively try to get to know every single person in the class. You will never be closer with another group of 53 people, and by the end of it, you're going to wish you had more time with each and every one of them.

How have truth, friendship and loyalty been a part of your time at Nightingale?
Although I automatically think of friendship when I think of Nightingale, truth has really been pivotal to my Nightingale experience. This school has taught me the value of sharing my truth and my voice in whatever I do. When I go off into the world, I know that I'll be able to communicate my beliefs with poise, authenticity, and confidence, all thanks to Nightingale.

How has Nightingale educated your heart and mind?
When I walk into the building everyday, I know I'm not there solely for academics, but also to grow as a person. Nightingale finds a unique intersection of the heart and mind where they are never treated as two separate ideas; classes are not just lectures, but include creative projects, and lunch conversations are filled with broad, philosophical questions.

You guys will forever be my best friends! Although we did not get to end our time at Nightingale in the way we hoped, I feel eternally grateful to have spent so much time with the 52 of you.
