Seasonal Reorganizing

The weather is getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and home is where everything basically is.

This is the PERFECT time to organize your home, because an organized home means a less stressed student studying in it. Here are a few recommendations:

  1. Exchange out your summer clothes.

Whether you have too many clothes to fit in your closet or you have it all mixed in, it helps to separate the sweaters and long-sleeves from the tanks and tees. If you are like me and have limited space, take the summer and spring exclusive clothes and put them nicely in a storage container. If you have space under your bed, get the tubs that slide under and store them there. When spring and summer hit, you just put your cold weather clothes in there to store. If you have the space - separate them out and push the summer exclusive clothing to the side to see what you have.

  1. Do a deep clean

While the weekly and daily routine is necessary and great. At the change of each season, a deep clean should be done. This means getting the nooks and crannies that are often overseen. When you do this, you will find things that you possibly forgot about, or thought you had lost.

  1. Pull out the things you haven’t used in a while

This goes along with #1 & #2! While organizing that wardrobe and deep cleaning, go the extra mile to take the time to pull the things that you have not used or worn in a long time and put it in a designated spot. When you put it all in one place you can see the extra space you cleared up and all the stuff you have that you are not using. Take each item and decide whether you truly need it or not. If yes, put it back away. If no, it's time to get rid of it.

  1. Create a “Donate” (or “Sell”) Box & GO!

It is pretty self-explanatory - You have stuff you no longer need. Put that in a box to go and DO NOT STORE IT! Follow through and take it to a donation center of your choice, sell some items on facebook marketplace, or wherever you choose. The key is not to hold on to it.

  1. Enjoy a fresh, clean and organized space to cozy up in for the cold months

2020 is weird! Our home is also a study space, a classroom, and possibly even a work office in addition to what it normally is. With an organized home, you have more time to focus more on yourself and all the other things that you need to get done.

S.M.A.R.T. Goal-Setting Exercise

I found this exercise about resilience and S.M.A.R.T. goal setting, and overcoming a barrier or problem in life. It assists by breaking down the barrier and your willingness to get past it. In light of a new year, new resolutions, and re-assessing your goals, I highly recommend you check it out below!

Take Notes Like a Champ

Taking notes in class helps you focus on the discussion topic, understand the content being shared, and references terms that are important to come back to when studying for tests.

When there is something you do not quite understand at the time, you are able to go back and look up the information you targeted as an area for additional understanding.

The above image gives some great pointers for organized and productive note-taking, and following those guidelines can improve the clarity of your note-taking. You will be thankful you of that when you refer back to them while studying for that quiz, test or final in order to pass the class.
