Page Numbers
The page numbers should be located in the document header, flush right. The title page is considered page 1. Running headers are typically used only by professionals. Students are not required to use them. If used, the title of your paper should appear flushed left in all capitals.
The APA uses 5 levels of headings. The level of headings used depends on how complex the paper is. Generally speaking, most undergraduate papers only use 2 levels of heading. Creating an outline of your paper will help you determine how many levels of headings you will need.
Level 1: Centered, bold, title case, text below begins as new paragraph
Level 2: Flush left, bold, title case, text below begins as new paragraph
Level 3: Flush left, bold italics, title case, text below begins as new paragraph
Level 4: Indented, Boldface Title Case Heading Ending With a Period. Paragraph text continues on the same line as the same paragraph.
Level 5: Indented, Boldface Italic, Title Case Heading Ending With a Period. Paragraph text continues on the same line as the same paragraph.
Headings Tips
Avoid having only one subsection heading within a section, just like in an outline.
Do not label headings with numbers or letters.
Double-space headings; do not switch to single spacing within headings.
Do not add blank lines above or below headings, even if a heading falls at the end of a page.
Reference Page
Reference page should begin on a new page in your document.
The page should have the word References at the top, in bold, centered.
All text should be double-spaced with no extra spaces between citations.
Citations should use a hanging indent. The first line of the citation is flush with the left margin and the rest of the citation is indented 1/2 inch. (Noodletools will do this for you.)

Examples:
1 Author: (Edwards, 2019)
2 Authors: (Ahrendts & Edwards, 2019)
3 or more Authors: (Titunik, et. al., 2018)
Direct Quote: (Titunik, et. al., 2018, p. 102)
Remember:
Each work cited must appear in the reference list, and each work in the reference list must be cited in the text (or in a table, figure, footnote, or appendix).
Both paraphrases and quotations require citations.
Tables & Figures in APA have the following components:
number: The table/figure number (e.g., Figure 1 or Table 1) appears above the figure/table title and image in bold font. Number figures/tables in the order in which they are mentioned in your paper.
title: The table/figure title appears one double-spaced line below the table.figure number. Give each table/figure a brief but descriptive title, and capitalize the title in italic title case.
image: The image portion of the figure is the graph, chart, photograph, drawing, or other illustration itself. If text appears in the image of the figure (e.g., axis labels), use a sans serif font between 8 and 14 points.
legend: A figure/table legend, or key, if present, should be positioned within the borders of the figure and explains any symbols used in the figure image. Capitalize words in the figure legend in title case.
note: Three types of notes (general, specific, and probability) can appear below the figure to describe contents of the figure that cannot be understood from the figure title, image, and/or legend alone (e.g., definitions of abbreviations, copyright attribution, explanations of asterisks use to indicate p values). Include figure notes only as needed.
