We would like to inform you that we have been notified about two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in a member of our James Logan school community. The individuals who tested positive (the “cases”) were last on school premises on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 and Wednesday, July 7, 2021. All school areas where the cases spent time will be cleaned and disinfected before they are in use again.
Our school is working with the Alameda County Public Health Department to follow up with the case and will reach out to all persons who are identified as having had close contact with the case to recommend home quarantine and COVID-19 testing. If you or your child are not contacted by the Alameda County Public Health Department, it means that you or your child were not identified as exposed to the case.
Please remember to use your face covering, maintain physical distancing recommendations, and wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
Symptoms of COVID-19 may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus and include:
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
Anyone with COVID-19 symptoms should be tested. However, many infected people do not develop symptoms, which is why it is recommended that exposed people be tested whether they have symptoms or not.
Ensuring the health and safety of our students, teachers, and staff members is of the utmost importance to us. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Principal Mary Small at msmall@nhusd.k12.ca.us.
