Welcome to Language Arts and Social Studies at Murray Middle School!
I hope you are excited to join Murray Middle School!
I know the transition from elementary to middle school can be scary, but don't worry! My goal is to make this transition as successful as possible for students and parents. I will help you develop and maintain good organizational, social, and academic habits that will set a foundation for success in all areas of life. This year I hope to inspire your curiosity, critical thinking and creativity while also fostering a love for reading, writing, and an interest in the world around us.

Note: Weekly notes and assignments will be in our Google Classroom, not on this website.
About me
My name is Lori Jerread, and I have been teaching Spanish at Murray since 2018. I have actually been teaching Spanish for 33 years! This year I am excited to be joining the sixth grade Trilogy team as your Language Arts and Social Studies teacher. I earned my master's degree at SUNY Cortland in Reading education k-12, and I taught English, Math, and Spanish in 1992, my very first year of teaching. Since then, it has been all Spanish, but since teaching Spanish encompasses reading, writing, and grammar skills as well as geography and cultures, I am sure this will be an amazing year of learning for all of us.
In my free time, I enjoy walking, line dancing, spending time with friends and family, serving at my church, reading, singing, and especially travelling. I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel to many of our states and many countries like Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Uruguay. I also have two adult children, a son-in-law and a soon to be daughter-in-law who all live near Raleigh.
