Biomedical Technology
Biomedical Technology simply applies engineering and technology to all living things and it also places special emphasis on human health and disease processes. We use products of it daily, from the use of shampoo and nail polish, to the medications available to treat diseases and the technology to diagnose the diseases. The medical field is forever changing and we need more people entering this field who are passionate about changing the world for the better. We are hoping that your child is in that number!
Health Science
Health Science is simply understanding the structures and functioning of the body. Having a good understanding of how the body works is the basics in healthcare. It is your foundation! This course focuses on anatomy, physiology, and human body diseases, and recognizing and responding to first aide emergencies. Your child will learn about healthcare careers within the context of human body systems. When you know basic structure and functions of the body, then you can begin to understand what makes it dysfunction. It is our hope that your child will enjoy this class as they learn more about their body's structure and functions.

Thanks for your patience and understanding throughout this global crisis. We are working very hard to ensure educational needs are met. Your child knows how to access this- as this is what I currently use. Please know that things are changing daily and our goal is to ensure your child is equipped with the material needed to be successful in this class and beyond. Hey There! I'm a Carolina Girl, born and raised, and I love the coastal areas! I'm married to a Carolina Guy and we have a teen boy. They both LOVE comic books and all things Marvel! I've somehow gained much interests in the same things. Guess what? Biotechnology is used in designing the superheroes' gear. It's everywhere! Guess what else is everywhere? HEALTH SCIENCE!! :) OK, I can be a little corny and I love to joke and laugh a lot sometimes, but let me get back to telling you the serious parts about me for just a bit. :)
I've been working in healthcare for nearly 24 years and I've been a licensed Nurse for 20 years. I've worked in various settings in multiple states. My specialties ranged from: Cardio-thoracic ICU, Stepdown units, Telemetry, Medical/Surgical units, Long-term care, Home Health, and Primary Care Clinics in the federal system. I was blessed to be a Travel Nurse for nearly a decade and loved it! I'm also a Nurse Entrepreneur and run a successful coaching business and a nonprofit mentoring group for teen girls. I'm very passionate about purposeful living and I am here to help your child along his/her journey discover how they can apply biotechnology and health science with nearly anything they desire to do in life.
