At Holly Shelter Middle School, we are proud to serve the children and families of our military community. We understand that military life can bring unique challenges, and we are here to provide the support, resources, and connections your family needs to thrive. Whether you are new to the area, moving frequently, or adjusting to deployments, we’ve created this page to help you navigate school life with ease.
Holly Shelter Middle School is located approximately one hour away from Camp Lejeune, one of the largest military bases in the United Stated Marine Corps. Here at Holly Shelter, we have active-duty children and retired families of military men and women and we are dedicated to providing support to those students and families. Additionally, we want to provide assistance to transitioning and current military families with local and national resources, ensuring student success. On this page, you will find a current list of programs and services for area military families, including current enrollment guidelines.
What We Offer to Our Military Families
Military Family Liaison: Dedicated school representatives are available to help answer questions, provide guidance, and connect you to resources.
Transition Support: Moving frequently can be tough for students. We offer personalized support to help ease the transition when joining or leaving our school community.
Counseling and Wellness Services: Our school counselors are trained to assist students who may be facing the emotional challenges that come with military life, such as deployment, relocations, or stress related to a parent’s military duties.
Deployment Support: We provide resources to help both students and families stay connected during deployment, including special programs, letters, and activities that help children express their feelings.

We believe that community is key, and we encourage all military families to engage in the school experience. Whether it’s helping at school events or joining the Parent Teacher Association (PTA), there are many ways to get involved! We are always looking for those that wish to volunteer!
