Kia ora Hewett House whānau.
It’s been a quieter place around the hostel with many of our seniors out on study leave, but there’s still a lovely buzz of activity as summer begins to make itself felt. The school pool is now open, and we’re all looking forward to those warm, sunny afternoons when a quick swim is the perfect way to cool off.
Our summer sports are in full swing — volleyball, cricket, rowing, and social netball — and it’s fantastic to see so many girls getting involved, cheering one another on, and enjoying time outside together. The days are feeling lighter, brighter, and full of energy as we move toward the end of the year.
I always value your input and support - whether you're a parent, guardian, or friend of our boarding community. If you have any concerns, feedback, or would just like to drop by for a visit, please don’t hesitate to call, email, or pop in. We’d love to hear from you.
Ngā mihi nui,

Our senior boarders are now well into their external examinations. We wish them all the very best as they put a year’s worth of hard work and learning to the test. Remember, your teachers are still available to support you — whether you need a question answered, an essay checked, or some feedback before your next exam. Tutorials are running, and the library remains open for quiet study.
Our junior boarders are also nearing the end of the year and looking forward to the special activities planned to celebrate their efforts. Information about Enrichment Week (Dec 1–5) will be emailed to all whānau soon.
For any departing seniors who are unsure whether they’ve gained the credits they need for further study or work, Te Kura Summer School is a great option. Te Kura offers short-term summer enrolments, allowing students to complete up to 12 additional NCEA credits over the break (Level 2 and Level 3 only). Registrations open on November 24 at https://www.tekura.school.nz/learn-with-us/learning-at-te-kura/summer-school.

Reflections from our Heads of Hostel
Reflecting as the Year 13s fast approach the end of our high school journey, it’s been a great year of creating memories that will stay with us all. I’ve loved the sense of connection and shared experience this year has brought. It’s been a true reminder that the best moments often come from the people we share them with. - Kaela
Hewett House has been an amazing mix of memories; the late night chats, bonding with our brother school, the many events we attended, and the bittersweet joy of all our year groups growing older together. - Georgia
As our fifth and final year at Hewett House draws closer to the end, it’s amazing to look back at how far we’ve come and all the moments that have shaped who we are. From morning tea gossip sessions to celebrating milestones together, this year has been filled with never-ending laughter and friendships. - Chimari

Illness
If you're feeling unwell or showing any signs of illness, please stay home and take the time you need to recover. Your health — and the health of others — comes first.
Change to 5 / 7 Day Status
If your daughter is wanting to change her boarding status ie to 5 day or 7 day this needs to come to the Hostel Manager in writing please.
Special Dietary Students
Please remember that if you have listed yourself as a special dietary requirement you are expected to honour this and not change your mind as something else appeals. The kitchen staff are going to considerable effort to cater for your needs. Once again, thank you for your support.
Sunday Late Dinners
If you require a late/saved dinner on a Sunday night this MUST be booked by 12.00pm on the Sunday by putting your name on the list at the office preferably before you leave on Friday afternoon. If you have not booked a late/saved dinner you will be able to have toast and spreads. We hope you can appreciate that our kitchen team need to be able to plan for accurate numbers. It is very difficult for them when suddenly they need to find 15 – 20 extra servings. Thanks for your support with this.
We love celebrating successes at Hewett House.
If you have some news (and/or photos) we would love to hear about it so we can include it in future pānui editions :)
