Week of April 27-May 1

Here is the South African song we were learning for our program, try to sing along to it once you remember!

Here is the song again, but this time with the sign language we were learning for the English verse! Try it with me!

This presentation was done in class and has the pronunciations of the words we are singing in both songs. Now we have done both Yalo and Siyhamaba...perform both for your family! The Yalo videos are just below under the activities from last week. Have your family join in in doing the dance moves and sign language too!

Music Listening: Don't forget to give the Music Listening page a listen this week. It is Jazz Appreciation month so I've included a jazz piece, let me know what you think of it! akorenchan@nfv.k12.ia.us

Try dancing along, then add in the singing from the previous video!

Week of April 13-17

This week, and likely into next week, all the grade levels can work on this musical bingo sheet! There are many activities for your students to do together and separately, and more information about the rules for this activity are on the BINGO sheet! Don't forget to give our weekly listening a listen, on the Music Listening page of this website!

Week of April 6-8

This is a sing along as well incorporating motions! Each day has a different action and thus a different motion. Monday is washing, so pretend you are washing clothes to the steady beat, Tuesday is starching (however they chose to pantomime this!), Wednesday hanging up the clothes, Thursday ironing...and so on. All of these actions done to a steady beat!

This is a classical piece by Antonio Vivaldi that is great for steady beat keeping. Get creative! Start by clapping or patting the steady beat, then gradually try new ways to move to the beat!

This presentation was done in class and has the pronunciations of the words we are singing in both songs. I will be adding the sign language, dance move directions and singing parts soon.

If these tasks are not accessible to your child please let us know and we will

work with you to provide assistance or guide you to potential alternative resources.

I Can Statements

I can sing back on my own.

I can learn a singing part by ear.

I can keep a steady beat.

I can review words to foreign language songs.
