A Fantastic Start to CCA Season 1!
We would like to thank everybody for a wonderful first two weeks of CCAs! We hope all the learners have enjoyed the activities so far and will continue to do so in the following weeks.
Just a gentle reminder that all payments for CCAs must be made by today (Friday, 13 September 2019). If you would like to withdraw your child from a CCA, you should do so by today (Friday, 13 September 2019) as well to avoid being charged for the CCA in full.
We would also like to remind you that all CCAs will continue to run after school next Monday and Wednesday even though Parent Teacher Conferences will be running.
12&U Touch Team Make Brilliant Start To ACSIS Season 1
The Nexus 12&U touch rugby team kicked off their ACSIS season hosting matches against Dulwich and UWC. They continued to develop their skills and most importantly have fun, having two wins and a close loss. It was a great start to the season and built off what the team had learned from last year.

Eleven Teams Gather At Nexus For First Round Of 9&U Football Friendlies
There was a lot of excitement at the first 9&U friendly football tournament of the year! The Nexus teams were very competitive against some tough competition from GEMS, AIS, Chatsworth, Swiss International, and NPSI, and the competition was just as hot as the afternoon. A great effort from our Nexus football teams, and we are looking forward to a strong year of 9&U football.

Two From Two - A Dream Start For Our 12&U Netball Team
It has been a fantastic start to the 12&U Netball season. The girls showed grit and determination to win both matches played this week against Tanglin Trust and UWC East. We still have a lot of work to do to further develop our ball handling, footwork, attack and defence skills.

16&U Girls Volleyball Team Impress In First Two Matches Of The ACSIS Division 1 Season
A busy week for our Nexus 16&U Girls Volleyball team who were involved in two ACSIS Division 1 fixtures. First up on Monday was United World College - Dover Campus at Dover. Playing away from home is always a difficult challenge and this proved to be case in the first two sets. UWCD came out strong with fierce serving which our girls could not control. The first two sets flew by with scores being 9-25 and 9-25. In true Nexus courage, our girls never gave up and fought hard in the 3rd set to snatch victory 25-23. Power hitting from Maisie, Jessica and Zoe proved pivotal to this turnaround. The 4th set was equally as competitive but we just couldn't force the match to the deciding set, UWCD clinching the set and the match 21-25. A fantastic match and a high level of Volleyball.
On Thursday, Nexus hosted our modern rivals Singapore American School. The past 7 years have seen stunning matches between the two schools and this match also had plenty of historical significance. Post game, both teams talked about the relevance of the Ulu Pandan site for our respective schools - Singapore American School (SAS) was the first ever school on this site and Nexus will be the last school on this site. Nexus started the match very very well and never looked back! Serving power and efficiency proved to be the key element between the two team with Nexus serving at 88% team efficiency. This stat put all the pressure on SAS passing skills and provided many easy points. A brilliant win from our Nexus girls, 3-0 (25-19, 25-8, 25-17). Thanks for a great match SAS, was loads of fun as always.

Perfect Start For U19 Boys Football Team In ACSIS League
The U19 boys football team have enjoyed a fantastic fortnight. They approached the two home fixtures against ISS and Tanglin with real confidence and a can-do attitude. On Thursday 5th the match against ISS was a tense affair for the most part but as the boys found their feet they started to take control of the match and eventually turned out victorious. Final score Nexus, 3 - ISS, 1.
Against Tanglin the result never seemed in doubt as the boys stroked the ball around effortlessly, using intelligence to pass the ball quickly around the pitch. The central midfielders had free rein to control the ball and then set up their teammates, with great success coming down the right wing on many occasions. There were many near misses and we were all recovering from Pablo's thunderous strike against the right post when Alexi powered in the winning goal. Nexus, 1 - Tanglin, 0.
