This week we have celebrated a successful year in Nursery. We had a very wet and fun time during our Water Play session and were thrilled to invite our families to our environment for a Stay and Play morning. The children absolutely loved sharing their space with their grown-ups and demonstrating how they learn independently and creatively through play. Thank you to everyone who attended this celebration, it was wonderful to hear the buzz and excitement in the air!

It’s been an incredible journey in Nursery. The children have developed into such curious, confident and resilient learners and it has been a pleasure to observe. The children should be proud of all that they have achieved during their time in Nursery. We wish the children the very best in their learning journey. Thank you for being such a wonderfully supportive Nursery community. Have a fantastic summer break, we hope you find time to relax!

The year in Kindergarten has been a wonderful time of play, inquiry and growth. We have enjoyed setting up open-ended invitations to play and seeing our learners turn a box into a castle or some coloured paper into tickets for a show, money or shopping lists. We have loved the big questions and the curious wonderings throughout all of our activities. We see our learners writing and reading enthusiastically and proudly sharing their achievements. We also hear wonderful stories and dialogues happening during independent inquiry, games and activities.

We will be finishing the year on a high after our fabulous Stay and Play session earlier this week, where we were finally able to welcome our families in to enjoy our indoor and outdoor learning spaces. The learners did a great job of leading the visitors around the activities that they love to engage in at school. We also ended the week with a fabulous field trip to Bishan Park, where the learners explored the different water areas on offer.

We know that our Kindergarten Learners are ready to go to Year 1 but it’s always sad to say goodbye. We hope the children from KB, KG and KR will come back and let us know what they are enjoying in their new learning journey in Year 1. To those who are leaving - we wish you all the best in your future endeavours.

As the Unit of Inquiry and the academic year draws to a close the learners have thoroughly enjoyed party planning for their end of year celebrations. Collating all their favourite party themes, games and ideas they used their research skills to create the best class parties ever! It has been an absolute joy to watch their development over the past semesters as they navigated through restrictions to then end the year on a high celebrating all together. The enjoyment and happiness we have seen these past couple of months have been a credit to each and every member of the Year One family. They have truly surpassed themselves. We have loved guiding and nurturing our learners every step of the way, and wish them a wonderful journey of discovery into Year 2 and beyond. Take care, to those families who are leaving us. Congratulations Year 2 on a fantastic year of learning! Our year ended on a high this week with the fabulous Light Mini-Exhibition organised by the learners themselves. We were thrilled to FINALLY welcome parents into our learning spaces. The learners decided which activities to share, how the hub would be laid out and created written and video instructions for their experiments. They also wrote emails to people within the school to ensure they were meeting safety standards and advertised their event. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing all the smiling faces as the learners confidently shared their learning with their parents. The skills displayed show us just how far the learners have come and how ready for Year 3 they are. We would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful parents for all the help and support given throughout the year. We wouldn’t see the progress made without you! We send our best wishes for the learners who are leaving us and look forward to seeing our returning learners in August.

What a year it has been in Year 3! We are so proud of how far the learners have come. The Year 3 team has thoroughly enjoyed working with the learners. They have an energy, passion and enthusiasm for learning which will serve them well as they move onto Year 4. It was wonderful to finish the year, by inviting the parents in to visit the Year 3 learning space and listen to the presentations during the Mini-Exhibition. The learners were so excited to show off everything they had learned. A special thank you to all of the Year 3 parents for your support this year. It is truly appreciated. To those families who are leaving us at the end of the year, we wish you best of luck in your new adventures and to those who are staying, enjoy the break and we will see you in August.

Year 4, it has been a fabulous year of learning! You have applied yourselves with energy, enthusiasm, creativity and determination to all the opportunity. presented to you and created many of your own too. It has been a pleasure to see you grow in confidence and maturity over the year. The covid situation has thrown up many challenges all out learners this year but everyone has shown resilience and flexibility as they faced each bump in the road. It was such a joy to welcome our Year 4 families to our Mini-Exhibition of Forces and Simple Machines. Parents and Carers were able to see our learning spaces and see and hear their child's learning understanding of our latest Unit of Inquiry through their explanation of their simple machine and sharing in some of the science investigations Year 4 have been exploring over the last 5 weeks. This week our learners had a pleasure of watching the Year 5 production, 'A Night at the Museum' and now Year 4 is thinking about the exciting learning opportunities next year. In the meantime we wish all our learners and families a safe and happy holiday. We thank all our learners for their contributions this year and wish each one of you every success in the future.

TEAM-Together Everyone Achieves More. This sums up a wonderful year with our year 5 learners. The most recent celebration would have to be our production- 'A Night at the Museum'. The performing arts is such a wonderful opportunity for learners to develop and apply their skills in all areas of Language Arts, Drama and Music. The script was written by our Year 5 learners from 2020/21 and 2021/22. This communicated their understandings of our central idea 'Exploration expands Human Understanding'. An appreciation of exploration from the past ignites curiosity and inspires future possibilities and action. We are all so proud of our learners, not only for their final performances, but also their commitment to growth and improvement. You were amazing.

This week we also participated in the celebration of our year 6 exhibition. This self-directed inquiry is a highlight of the primary years programme and provides a platform for learners to demonstrate their learning. Year 5 enjoyed listening to and viewing the many diverse inquiries. Learning involved playing board games, exploring caves, tasting sustainable foods, uncovering facts through playing jenga or viewing timelines of information. We were immersed in so many areas of passion and interest. Thank you year 6 for sharing this with us.

As we end the year we wish all of our year 5 learners and families a safe holiday break. To those of you leaving us, happy adventures and we will miss you. We look forward to saying hello to those returning, as you walk a little further down the corridor to year 6 next year. Year 5 it has been an absolute pleasure.

The Middle Years Learners have coped and adapted fantastically well in what has been yet another unprecedented year. As restrictions have been easing, the learners have enjoyed making the most out of the fun and varied opportunities that have been created. Our learners excelled in MADD Week, sang their hearts out in the Sing Up! Contest, became rockstars at Nexus Beats and took centre stage in the production of Mary Poppins. The last few weeks of term have seen the learners enjoying curriculum trips around Singapore and participating in the first Run Swim event hosted by the PHE department. As the year draws to a close, we wish all our Middle Years Learners a happy and well deserved holiday. To those learners who are leaving Nexus we wish you all the very best and wish you well. We look forward to seeing many of you back in school in August.

It is hard to believe we have completed another busy year under COVID restriction. The learners in Y10 and Y11 have once again shown great resilience and have adapted well to the constant changes they have had to face. As the year progressed we were gradually able to introduce more events and activities outside of the classroom. The Cross Country race was a highlight along with the Christmas concert online. We should have a return to life before the pandemic in August, hopefully, we will be able to run the Y10 residential trip again.

Y10 learners have worked hard, with the recent trial exams giving them a good barometer of their current progress. They now have a chance to reflect on their year, refresh, recharge and get ready for Y11 as they work towards their IGCSE qualifications.

The Y11 learners’ are in the middle of their IGCSE exams which concludes on the 23rd of June. Couple more weeks and they can have a well-earned rest. We look forward to welcoming them back for their IB course in August. Sadly we have to say goodbye to some of our learners as they return to their home countries to continue their education. We wish them all the best on their journey.

Despite all the restrictions our Year 12 and 13 learners have had another brilliant year with a lot goings and with more opportunities opening up every week. We have celebrated continued success for our Junior Achievement companies, Revival, ScrapCap, and ReadCycle who have all received awards this year. Our 6 vertical tutor groups have thrived under the guidance of our IB tutor teachers, a massive thanks to Dr Fabio, Miss Lisa, Miss Syliva, Mr Kevin, Ms Victoria and Miss Liu Ning. During this year our Year 12 and 13’s have acted as fitting role models around the school and have participated in many high profile events, such as the school production of Mary Poppins, Nexus Beats, Green innovation week, the Nexmas Fair, the JoyBox project, the IB Art Exhibition and the performances of the amazing Year 12 bands, to name a few. Our senior swim squad continue to improve and impress, with further records, trophies and PB's. It is also lovely to see our IB learners participate in so many sports around school, Rugby, Basketball, Volleyball, Football, Badminton, the list goes on! We look forward to another year ahead and we are already planning more trips and CAS projects now restrictions have eased. It was incredible to have our first in-person Graduation ceremony for Year 13 in May, goodbye and good luck to our graduates, you will all be missed.
