We’re looking forward to welcoming you to Nexus. However, we need to ensure that you fulfil all these legal requirements before we can place your child on our roll. We hold onto these visa details safely under the rules of the Personal Data Protection Act.
If you have any questions about your visa requirements, please contact our Admissions Team. In case of uncertainty about arrival or issuance of visas, we may be able to defer your child’s entry and hold their place as long as their Student Contract is signed and the enrolment fee paid. An addendum contract will be sent to you with a revised start date and fee calculations should any be applicable.
Valid Passes and Approval for Entry into Singapore
In order for your child to commence school, they will need to have secured a valid visa. While the school takes every measure to ensure that we are aiding families with their visa requirements in a timely manner, it is the family’s responsibility to ensure that they have what they require to be able to legally commence school in time.
Health Promotion Board Immunisation Certificates/Medical Checks
Foreign-born children aged 12 years old and below, who are first-time applicants for Dependent's Pass (DP) or Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) issued by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM), and the Student's Pass (STP) issued by the Immigration & Checkpoints authority (ICA), are required to submit documentary proof of childhood vaccinations or evidence of immunity for diphtheria and measles to the Health Promotion Board (HPB) for verification before they can proceed with their applications to MOM or ICA for their long-term stay in Singapore. Please see this site for more information.
Student Passes
Nexus will register the learner’s details on the ICA website and issues the SOLAR+ number to the family so that they can complete registration and pay the processing fee online. Once processed and approved, we will receive an approval document that we will email to you. You then need to go onto the ICA website to book their earliest appointment so that you can collect the Student Pass. The ICA can get quite booked up in June, July and August as this is when most learners are arriving in Singapore to start their course. This may not be the case this year with entry into Singapore being limited. However it is still best to proceed with these steps as soon as possible to guarantee your Student Pass is issued in time to commence classes.
We are unable to support any Long Term Visit Passes for accompanying family members but once the Student Pass has been approved, this can be used to support the Long Term Visit Pass application.
Singaporean Permanent Resident (PR)
Please note that if you/your child holds PR entitlement, the school will need to have received a copy of a valid passport photo page and the re-entry permit printed page, clearly showing the date of expiry of the PR status.
Dependent Passes
You cannot start school on the 'In Principle Approval' (IPA) letter alone. Your company needs to have clicked the 'Issue Passes' button on the MOM website following your arrival into the country. There is then a 'Notification Letter' they can give you which allows your child to start school. As long as we have a copy of this, your child can commence class. We will need to have a copy of the front and back of the family’s green cards in due course for the learner’s file. These can be emailed or presented to Learner Services.
Long Term Visit Pass (LTVP) with Letter of Consent (LOC)
Please see the process for obtaining a Student’s Pass above. We will direct you to select the LOC option when submitting your application on the ICA website.
We cannot support any Long Term Visit Passes for accompanying family members but once the Student Pass has been approved this can be used to support the Long Term Visit Pass application.
Approval for Entry
In addition to your visa, you will also need an Approval for Entry to enter Singapore. The submission for such approval can be done up to two months in Advance.
If your visa is, or is linked to, an Employment Pass/Exemption Order/Diplomatic Pass, the employer will also apply for your Approval for Entry.
If your visa is, or is linked to, a Student Pass, you will need to apply for the Approval for Entry directly on the ICA website.
For more information, please refer to the ICA Safe Travel website
Singaporean Citizens
Before an offer of a place at Nexus can be given to a Singaporean citizen, we need to have submitted an application to the Ministry of Education (MOE). This only needs to be done at the time the family would be registering the child for P1. The MOE will then have to issue an approval letter which we need to have received prior to sending the Student Contract out to the family to sign. This process can sometimes take up to six weeks. Should you have any questions about the MOE approval process that haven’t already been answered through the admissions process, please ask our Admissions Team.
Exemption Order/Diplomatic Pass
We need to have seen the stamp in the passport detailing this status. A letter from the company will not suffice.
