Dear Shacklewell community,
I hope you are well and that you enjoyed the long weekend. I know that lots of families took advantage of the weather to get out into the garden and to spend some time in the parks. I am sure the children appreciated having time to stretch their legs. Parents of Year 5 and 6 children I would appreciate you sharing the below section from Ms. Reid, with your child.
Following the announcement yesterday evening and the clarification from central government today the plans for the second part of summer term are somewhat clearer. We now know that schools will be open from 1st June and that Year 6, Year 1 and Reception will be welcomed back first. There are some areas of how the new half term will work that have yet to be addressed but as the government provides guidance we will apply it to our school and communicate our next steps with you. Please see the letter below, from Ms. Reid, which explains things further .
I can assure you that as a school and cross Federation team we have been planning for a huge range of eventualities for reopening schools. I think it is prudent therefore, to highlight that school life will not return to what we have known for a while yet. Please be prepared to support us with social distancing, staggered timetables and limited access to the school grounds- including changes in how we welcome and dismiss the children at the start and end of the day. I know that as we ease back to a more familiar approach to schooling there will be challenges for us all and I thank you in advance for your flexibility and trust.
I know that for many of you the thought of sending your children back to school is daunting- we understand and are here to support you. We also know that for lots of families there are wider considerations around health, work and travel so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions at all.
I hope you all continue to stay well and that I see you soon,
Rory
Dear Year 5 and Year 6,
It’s been a long time since we have all been together . I hope you understand why the school was closed for all except a few children. Despite the difficulties I hope you have found ways to stay fit and healthy by taking exercise in the park or perhaps riding your bike around the local area. Many of you have been able to keep in touch with your friends despite the problems. Your teachers have missed you but have still been able to keep in contact with messages of support and encouragement and with the weekly home learning. I have missed you all too. Whether it’s the chitter chatter about the school, in the playgrounds, in the lines for lunch or singing in assemblies. Hopefully one day very soon we will all be back together again. For the present keep safe and healthy and stay in touch with your friends and teachers.
See you all very soon, Ms. Reid.
