Dear families,
what an exciting week we have had at Shacklewell! The children throughout the school have been showcasing the qualities of resilience, focus, enquiry and creativity as we develop our IPC learning. We have been making films, going on trips across London and investigating scientific ideas.
I am also very pleased to announce that the children in Two Year Olds, Nursery and Reception have some very special treats planned for Christmas. On 13th November our Nursery and Two Year Olds will welcome their families to join them for a Christmas stay and play and sing-a-long.
On Friday 14th at 2.30pm the children from Reception will be performing a musical nativity. The children are already practising their songs and they have some delightful surprises in store. We cannot wait to welcome all our EYFS parents to these wonderful events.
As we move in to December may I take this opportunity to remind you that we have a range of events coming up so please ensure you have checked our calendar so you do not miss out!
We had a special visitor join us on Wednesday when Stirder came to school. Strider is the mascot for 'Walk on Wednesday' a Hackney wide initiative to promote healthier ways of getting to school. We would love to see as many families as possible walking everyday to reduce air pollution around the local area.
Strider was presenting alongside our Junior Road Safety Officers who were leading an assembly on road safety. Please reinforce this message by talking to your children about safety at road sides to ensure they make sensible decisions about crossing roads.
Thank you for your continued support and I look forward to seeing many of you at parent consultations on Thursday evening,
Rory
As you will have seen we have sent a reminder letter to our school community about our policy on food containing allergens.
It is imperative that children and adults in our community do not bring snacks, food or cosmetic products that contain allergens in to school.
If you are not sure about a product, please check the label before sending it into school.
At Shacklewell we take every precaution to protect our children with allergies and need your support in this matter.
On Thursday 6th December school will be hosting parent consultations. This is the perfect time to meet your child's teacher to find out how their first term in their new class has gone. There will be an opportunity for you to look through your child's work books and to see their progress for yourself.
It is also a fantastic time to think about the next steps for spring term and for you to ask any questions you have about your child's schooling.
As a polite reminder please ensure you are on time to your appointments, and if you feel you will need more that the 10minutes allocated, then please make an additional appointment at the office.
