Update from Ms. Reid

Together we are better!

As we approach the end of what has been a busy but productive term, I would like to wish you all a fun packed festive season with your family and friends.

The federation has continued to support each other in what has been a hugely successful Autumn Term. I have been privileged to witness the amazing talent, skills and knowledge the children in all our schools have demonstrated daily. I have been impressed by their positive attitudes to learning and the respect they have shown each other. We have received so many positive comments about their behaviour from a range of visitors to the school and you should all feel very proud of them!

I would like to thank our fantastic and supportive parents. We are so lucky at New Wave to have such a richly diverse community and I really enjoyed us all working in partnership to ensure the best outcomes for our children. By continuing to work together we can ensure all our children enjoy their time at school.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from myself, the staff and Governors.

Christmas at Shacklewell

Christmas 18th December

The children across Shacklewell have been truly getting into the festive spirit.

We had a delightful morning and afternoon of activity in Nursery and Two Year Old Provision on Thursday 13th. The children and families shared songs, games and Christmas treats. This was followed by the Reception performance on Friday 14th- a truly heartwarming experience for the families.

The children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 had a fantastic time, dressed in their Christmas jumpers, at the pantomime on Friday 14th. The children were singing and cheering throughout the performance. The children's sheer joy was palpable and Mr. Dowling's selection from the crowd to help Widow Twanky was a highlight of the term!

Monday 17th saw the whole school come alive with beautiful singing as the children completed two outstanding Christmas performances. The hall was packed and the children did an absolutely amazing job singing, rapping and dancing.

Today the children have been tucking into a a delicious festive feast! There have been lots of happy faces, silly jokes and paper hats in the hall as the children sampled a delicious Christmas menu. A huge thank you to the catering team for pulling out the stops for this annual treat.

It is beginning to look, sound and taste like Christmas here at Shacklewell!

Looking ahead to spring term

IPC topics spring

During the spring term there is going to be a renewed focus on science across the curriculum. Each year group has a unit focussed on science and this will allow the school to come alive with investigations and experiments.

If you have the chance to think about the upcoming term during the mad Christmas rush, then please use our handy guides to each year groups' new topic. They are full of helpful tips and suggestions to get the conversation about their new learning started before term begins!

If you do get out and about, make a fun new model or find a new book to prompt the children's thinking, don't forget to tweet us @ShacklewellE8 to show us what you have been up to.

CHRISTMAS FAIR

Thank you to everyone that came to enjoy this years' fair! A special thanks to all the volunteer parents/guardians who helped to make this event a success. These events would not be possible without your help.

We managed to raise a whopping £2,220- truly amazing! These funds will be put towards a school wish list of equipment/activities. We will be voting on what to spend our money on in the new year so please come along to a meeting or email info@shacklewellfamilies.com if you’d like to have a say.
