Dear Parents and Carers,
The term is coming to a close, it has been exciting, hard work and rewarding but it is nice to conclude it with heart warming seasonal treats. The winter fair was a wonderful family experience, and the musical shows, Christmas dinner and pantomime are still to come! These are a lovely way to reward ourselves for all the effort everyone has put in, pupils and staff alike. I would also like to thank all our parents and carers who have given their time over the term, from the patient and dedicated adult reading volunteers who help our young readers to those who come along and help to run and organise our clubs and big events. To everyone I want to say a huge heartfelt thank you from myself, the staff and Governing Body.
Parents evening went well with those of you I spoke to being very positive. A special mention must go to Mr. Dowling in Year 2, who came in to speak to parents despite his obvious discomfort due to injury sustained in a road accident. We all tried to persuade him to stay at home but his dedication and fortitude saw him through a long night. We all wish Mr Dowling a speedy recovery and a restful Christmas and New Year holiday.
I am very pleased that the 'Makedo' launch went well. Many of you came to assist with construction, again a huge thank you but I cannot help thinking you got just as much out of it as the children! The pupils gained so much by engaging their curiosity and creative spirit during the 'Makedo' time. Please see below for even more Makedo news!
With only seven school days left before the holiday, the school office urge you to clear all outstanding ParentPay debts by Friday 15th December 2017. Please remember that any debts still remaining on 3rd January 2018 will result in your children being unable to participate in any After School or Breakfast Club. Those owing monies for school meals will not be able to take them on returning from the break. Many thanks to families for paying in advance and keeping their Parentpay accounts in credit .
Enjoy the holiday, stay safe and I look forward to welcoming you all back in the new term,
Nicole
On Friday evening the parents association out did themselves with yet another wonderful winter fayre. The children were blown away by the stunning grotto and loved the chance to meet Santa Claus. The school looked fantastic and the prizes and treats on sale were fabulous.
Thank you to all our parents for their support particularly those of you who gave time and effort to make the fayre a fantastic experience for the whole school community.
We look forward to more SPA events in the new year!
Last week the school was bursting at the seams with cardboard creations! The children used the Makedo sets to create rockets, pyramids, shields and more. The only limit they faced was the size of their imagination!
It was fabulous to see so many parents in school and it truly enriched the experience for all of the children. Thank you for giving your time so generously; we really value your support.
We have created a digital gallery for each year group so please enjoy the fantastic photographs from across the whole school.
We are committed to our vision of creativity throughout the school day so keep your eyes peeled for more exciting projects next term!
Always looking for ways to let you know what is happening at school. Have a look at some of the highlights below and remember you can join in the conversation yourself by following @ShacklewellE8.
