Fact families are four related facts about a set of numbers. Can you write two addition equations and two subtraction equations about for just three numbers on a part-whole model?

Make ten is a mental strategy of addition and subtraction. You must first make ten to help you.

For example: 8 + 4 14 - 5

8+2 = 10 14 - 4 = 10

10 + 2 more = 12 10 - 1 more = 9

so 8 + 4 = 12 so 14 - 5 = 9
