Technology is constantly changing. What we learn today apply to today's needs. Things, like Artificial Intelligence, adds quickly to new developments, less need for some skills and adding new ones. Many of my students come to school not knowing how to use a mouse but are on their phone or tablet unaware of the problems that exist on the open web.

To focus primarily on one or two areas, such as coding and robotics, both of which take a great deal of time to learn and create, would take away from other essential skills that the students need to develop to help with their current years in school. This broad approach provides students with many tools to use, develop their skills and interests, and allowing to move at a pace that is best for them.
