We will read 4 novels that include:

• The Black Ships Before Troy and The Wanderings of Odysseus

• Julius Caesar by William Shakespeare

• 90 Miles to Havana - About a boy who has to find his way in Florida without his parents during the Cuban Revolution

We also read myths and poetry. All books will also be posted digitally to Google Classroom so students can access them outside of class. 

• Open Book Tests 

Reading tests and daily comprehension checks are open book and we encourage students to take their time and look up information in the text.

• Spelling Tests 

For spelling tests, we allow test corrections for scores of 14/20 or fewer. Students should write each missed word 3 times. Tests are every other Thursday and spelling words are posted online and a paper copy is provided

• Free Reading and Library 

Students will free read throughout the week (in reading class and study hall) so students should always have a choice book.

Students will have the opportunity visit the library regularly.
