Grading Policy

  • Academic grades are based on classwork, homework, quizzes, tests, and projects. Students also receive separate grades for effort and behavior weekly out of 4 total points.
  • I update grades on Schoology frequently.
  • I assign "Check Schoology Grade" assignments semi-frequently which will require parent signatures. This is so parents can also keep track of their child's performance.
  • I value open communication about student progress and grades and expect students to self-monitor their own learning.
  • Work cannot be accepted for credit after assessment/end of unit.

Quizzes, Tests, Projects 30% of grade

This category includes quizzes, tests, essays, larger homework assignments like essays and projects. Any failed test or quiz can be retaken and the higher grade will be accepted. In writing assignments, the final grade with be used, not the grade on initial drafts.

Classwork 25% of the grade

Class participation (including homework) 45% of grade

Full participation in class is worth 20%. This includes not only participating in discussions, but also being a good citizen in class, being respectful to peers and adults in the classroom, following directions, taking charge of your own learning, helping others, and completing homework and classwork on time. Late homework will also affect class participation grades.
