At tryouts, all athletes will be responsible for doing all the following:
Learn and perform 2 chants
Learn and perform a dance
Perform a Toe-Touch
Perform a series of 2 (or more) consecutive jumps
Perform any tumbling that can be safely performed WITHOUT a spot
Learn stunting skills
Flexibility is extremely important to safely and consistently execute your skills so that you have the best form! It is essential that before AND after doing any activity that you STRETCH! Additionally, because flexibility is essential to strong athletic performance, stretching for 20-30 minutes a day (while watching your favorite show) is a great way to improve your cheer abilities!
Cheerleaders need strength for all skills - Strength is extremely important for safe cheering, stunting, tumbling, and jumps!
Here are some recommended ways to build strength to better prepare you for cheering!

Cardio Workout
It is recommended that you practice your motions in front of a mirror!! Make sure your motions are CLEAN and SHARP and are consistently in the appropriate position.
The 3 major cheerleading jumps are the toe-touch, pike, and hurdler.
For Spirit teams, cheerleaders will perform:
A Double Jump Sequence
A single Toe-Touch
For Competition, cheerleaders will perform:
A 3 consecutive jump sequence (Pike, Hurdler, AND Toe-Touch)
A single Toe-Touch
Use the videos to learn the correct form and counts for jumps.
