tall tales

Tall Tales is an exploratory activity for co-beneficial, intergenerational interaction between older adults and young children to engage the mind and body through tactility, movement and storytelling.

Seniors and children are encouraged to collaboratively construct characters + stories by exploring and connecting together abstract organic forms, made from felted wool, cork and jute, and magnetic snaps for attachment. This tactile and dynamic form of story-building unites the experience + wisdom of older adults with the imaginative energy of young children, to inspire conversation, connection and collaboration.

It is crucial to establish a sense of community early on, by conditioning older and younger generations to regularly interact with each other, to allow for continued connection during times like this unprecedented COVID-19 crisis.

Observing cultural behaviours + nuances, discovering the stories between people, places + objects, and exploring sensorially is key to my process. I strive to create honest, accessible and sustainable opportunity through compassionate design.

Having been raised in different cities across Europe, Asia + the Middle East, I've learnt to embrace and assimilate new values and customs, collaborate with people from a variety of backgrounds, as well as retain essential Indian cultural values. Respecting our elders, is one of those values I imbibed from a very young age, which transformed into immense love for my grandparents as I watched them pour their hearts into making their children's and grandchildren's lives wonderful. To me, it is vital to give back to the generations before us, who have dedicated their energy and patience to us, and create meaningful experiences by giving them our time, to listen and learn from them.
