P A R T O N E : I N T E R V E N T I O N

Shared bedroom in the domestic violence shelter in Asheville. There is no privacy.

Residents offer messages of strength on mirrors, where they can mark space.

The shelter is a highly controlled environment, reflective of abusive situations.

Survivors tend not to stay long in this space, returning to the familiar horror of their homes.

J E N N A K O S S

As a designer, I believe that my role is to facilitate the power of others through interior space. I am dedicated to prioritizing the humanity of the people who encounter the environments that I develop, and I work to practice empathy in my design decisions.

In my time at Parsons, I have been honored to receive the MFA Interior Design Award, Thesis Award, and Academic Honors. I am the recipient of the Provost's Scholarship, as well as The New School Student Research Award for my ongoing work to create healing environments for survivors of trauma.

Prior to receiving my MFA in Interior Design, I worked as a Senior Designer for a home accessories company. There, I managed a small team of designers, oversaw projects from creation to production, and traveled internationally. I am an avid weaver, a loud laugher, and the sort of person who will ask to pet your dog.
