Zeit Hotel
Our client is Macmillan Publishers, who since 1843, has published some of the most famous books in the world. Our brief was to create a hotel tied to their rich legacy and inspire people to read their books. We named the hotel Zeit which is German for time. Which is exactly what the creative concept behind the hotel is; a space that transports you to different eras in time. We do that by creating spaces inspired by the legendary books they published. The hotel embraces the guests in the world of some of the most fascinating pieces of literature, sparking their curiosity and engaging them into the wonderful world of reading.
Zeit Hotel Presentation
The project is located at 66 W 12th street, which currently accommodates The New School for Social Research and Tishman auditorium designed by Joseph Urban in 1931. The goal of the project was to preserve as much of the existing architecture as possible, while still creating a space that satisfied the client’s brief. In the presentation PDF you will find detailed line drawings and diagrams that will give a better understanding of the planning behind the space, including the organization of the guest rooms for the potential hotel property. An important part of the design development stage was to apply the environmental practices to the new development shown in the diagrams.

I am a proud student graduating from the AAS Interior Design program. I’ve lived in Moscow, Prague, Seattle, San Francisco, and ended up in New York—the city of my dreams. I’ve visited 4 continents, raised a 100 lb husky dog-child, worked as a PR manager in Moscow where I sat next to Rem Koolhaas and Santiago Calatrava with no clue who they were. I’ve also read “Architecture: Form, Space, and Order” a few dozen times. My goal is to work as a production designer in the film and TV industry and to redesign the dog parks in NYC. The skills I’ve developed at Parsons enable me to tackle projects of all sizes, including: residential, hospitality, commercial, and retail.
