Talk about the things that you see. Associate objects (leaves go with trees), or categorize objects according to shape, size and colors, (let’s look for all the tall things). Relaxed conversation is an excellent way to develop your child’s language skills, and to enjoy being together too!
Following the directions to make pancakes, cookies, or any recipe is a good way to help memory and sequencing skills. While it’s cooking, ask your child to tell you how you made the food. Then enjoy the fruits of your labor together!
Follow dishwashing steps if washing dishes by hand or sort out the dishes once they are clean and dry. Talk about where dishes go, what we do with each type of dish/silverware/cup, and how they are alike and different.
Help your child sort the laundry according to type of clothing, color, or whose laundry it is.
Music is an excellent way to promote oral language development. Children love repetitive, simple songs sung over and over again!
