A One Book, One School program helps to bring school and family together as we work to build a Community of Readers.
HOW IT WORKS AT HOME - Every family in our school will receive the book Restart by Gordon Korman along with a reading calendar. Families are encouraged to read the assigned chapters together starting Monday, February 2nd, 2026. This could look like parents reading aloud to their child/ren or students reading aloud to their families. We also have links to videos of staff members reading the assigned chapters as well and all families are welcome to listen to these readings if that works better in your day/schedule. (This book is appropriate and engaging for all family members to listen along!)
Families are also highly encouraged to take part in the suggested discussion questions which can be found on the back of the calendar and align with certain chapters in the book. These questions will help foster discussion with family members and connect more deeply and find meaning in the story - these are great to use, especially if a student has already read the book.
HOW IT WORKS AT SCHOOL - All staff in the building have also been gifted a copy of the book and will be encouraged to read along with our families and students as well! In ELA class, students will engage daily with the story and have the opportunity to answer a trivia question from the previous days reading with an opportunity to win a prize in class! Thoughout the month of reading, there will be various activites and prompts shared throughout many classes to incorporate many of the lessons and themes found throughout the book.
TOGETHER - We look forward to celebrating the culmination of this reading program with a Fun Family Night at the Intermediate/Middle School on Tuesday, March 10th from 4:30-6:30. Our middle school student council is working to plan an evening with themed activities and food for the whole family!
Students - log in and complete the activities on your virtual Bingo card with your familiy and at school to win prizes!
We can't wait to see your family's creative ideas!
Winning homeroom will earn a donut party!
All students have a chance to particiate in daily and weekly trivia questions about the book to win prizes!
