6th grade is such a busy year! Lead by the incomparable Mrs. VP, the 6th graders work hard to prepare themselves for the rigor and independence of middle school. Students this year are working on several projects that connect to the other 5th and 6th grade classrooms in the district. This exciting new program studies the Industrial Revolution and involves field trips to historic mills, themed literature studies and a chance to stretch their technology skills through Google Hangouts! The work being done with this unit will be displayed in a culminating presentation at Leland and Gray Middle/High School later in the year. 6th graders use the Eureka math program to build their skills and are always stiff competition in the district spelling bee thanks to their commitment to practicing and persevering with their spelling and vocabulary words. Aside from this work, students are also preparing and fundraising for their big trip to Montreal, Canada in the spring.
